Desert Camp Manager

 

 

 

 

 

Food Action Coordinator

AmeriCorps VISTA position

 

Description: We're hiring a camp manager to run and facilitate our rural tourism social enterprise. The ideal candidate has experience in customer service in hospitality and also aligns with our purpose of equitable rural community development. Self contained RV, van or trailer accommodations are preferred as there is space onsite to park.

Terms and Compensation:

Three month probationary period with employment thereafter 

  • Compensation starts at $1,800/mo
  • Utilities and space for RV, Van, mobile dwelling 
  • Family meals with BSC team

We know that our community needs can be addressed with a bold vision and diligent planning and execution. That’s where you come in as the food action coordinator. Your entrepreneurial thinking and collaborative mind-set will help design a vibrant future for our community and provide the community the tools and know-how to realize the vision themselves. We look forward to you leaving your mark on our small town during your year of service.

Subjects: regenerative agriculture, local food system, diet & nutrition education, culinary arts, food cooperatives, small farming, hydroponics, aquaponics, greenhouse operations, fermentation/preservation, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), dry-farming, farm to table, farm to school, slow food, carbon farming, biodynamic farming, agricultural land trust, food insecurity, food justice, food desert

Terms and Compensation:

Twelve months full-time employment through AmeriCorps VISTA

  • Living allowance of $1,349 per month
  • 10 days paid vacation/10 days paid sick leave, for a total of 1960 work hours
  • Up to $550 travel reimbursement
  • Education award of $5,815 or cash award of $1,500

Your entrepreneurial thinking and collaborative mind-set will help design a vibrant future for our community and provide the community the tools and know-how to realize the vision. Subjects: community organizing, community design, citizen artist, civic engagement, architecture & design, urban planning, city planning,  census, surveying, community assessment, rural development, engagement, fundraising, community engagement, stakeholder engagement, SWOT analysis, database management, facilitation, research, project management, sustainability
