Give to Cuyama, Support Our Work!

Meet Mr. Gamino, the superintendent for the Cuyama Joint Unified School District. Our school district is considered a critically underfunded and geographically isolated school district. We partner with the school district on an ongoing basis, regularly bringing creative enrichment into the classrooms through our artist-in-residence programs. Last month, with the support of an Uplift Catalyst Grant, we supported the district's priorities to bring $100,000-worth of brand new computers and equipment for two state-of-the-art computer labs for students and for future opportunities for adult continuing education.

The school district is essential for our community and we're proud to be working together on Cuyama's futures. Please consider donating today at the link in our bio to support this critical work in 2026 and beyond. Please help support our collaborative work with the Cuyama Joint Unified School District by donating today.

It’s a crucial time for Blue Sky Center and the Cuyama Valley, and we need your help. This past summer, the Cuyama Valley experienced two massive wildfires that burned a combined 212,400 acres. The impact on our community was profound. The fire damaged property at several ranches and many in our community were affected by horrible air quality. Despite the fires, we were able to act fast and put our resiliency efforts to the test. Our L88 airstrip proved vital for firefighting efforts during both fires and our campus was a hub for firefighter teams. Resilience is at the heart of what we do and it was an honor to support such critical work.

Separately, the groundwater adjudication is well into its third year with many more projected. Blue Sky is staying in as a party to the lawsuit to continue to advocate for sustainable and equitable water use.

And as is historically the case, rural community development continues to be historically under-invested. All to say, it can feel very precarious in Cuyama with these existential threats to all of our Cuyama neighbors.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today. We are in need of unrestricted cash gifts so that we can cover legal and business expenses, pay utilities that have dramatically increased, and — most importantly — provide living wages with benefits for our growing staff. This averages to $15,305 per month of expenses not covered by grants.

We also love mail! Send us a check instead to Blue Sky Center, PO Box 271, New Cuyama, CA 93254. We’ll send you mail back!

We are proud of our transparency, a core tenant of our work. You can find our Fiscal Year 2024 Financial Compilation, IRS Form 990 / CA Form 199, Profit & Loss Statement, Balance Sheet, and all other disclosures at our website here. If you want to know more about how we spend our money and why not all of our costs are able to be covered by grants, reach out and we’re happy to schedule a meeting.

All donors (unless anonymous) are recognized in our Annual Report and receive a tax-deductible donation slip! As well as an invitation to come visit us in person, receive a tour of the property, and join us for a community event!
