Support Cuyama’s Recovery and Resilience
After the Wildfires, Our Community Needs Your Support
Meet Mr. Gamino, the Superintendent of the Cuyama Valley Joint Unified School District. As one of California’s most geographically isolated and critically underfunded school districts, Cuyama’s students face limited access to creative and enrichment opportunities. That’s why Blue Sky Center partners closely with the district to bring high-quality, arts-based programming directly into the classrooms through our artist-in-residence initiatives.
Since 2022, we’ve introduced Cuyama students to visiting artists who teach musical theater, songwriting, poetry, printmaking, drawing, documentary film, and photography—expanding horizons and nurturing creativity across grade levels. The school district is a cornerstone of our valley, and we’re proud to work together to help ensure a vibrant and resilient future for the Cuyama community.

OUR EMERGENCY RESPONSE WORK
This is a critical moment for Blue Sky Center and the Cuyama Valley—and your support has never been more essential. This summer, two major wildfires tore through our region, burning 212,400 acres and putting our community directly at risk. Families faced evacuations, air quality plunged to hazardous levels, and local ranches sustained significant losses.
In response, we worked closely with USFS, Cal Fire Team 8, and Bureau of Land Management fire crews to bolster frontline firefighting efforts—opening our L88 airstrip to emergency response teams and mobilizing our campus as a dedicated operations hub. Resilience is at the core of our mission, and it was an honor to work with our partners and provide vital support during these devastating wildfires.
Please enable us to continue providing this critical support by making a tax-deductible donation today.
We are in need of unrestricted cash gifts so that we can cover legal and business expenses, pay utilities that have dramatically increased, and — most importantly — provide living wages with benefits for our amazing staff. This averages to $15,305 per month of expenses not covered by grants.
We also love mail! Send us a check instead to Blue Sky Center, PO Box 271, New Cuyama, CA 93254. We’ll send you mail back!
